The
Skinny on
the WAHA Point System
(Or Knowledge is a Powerful Tool!)
Already
have your WAHA LOM? How about trying for the WAHA Supreme
Legion of Merit?
You may
enter the Point System any time, but no points will be counted
for shows attended prior to entering the Point System.
You must
be entered in the Division to earn the points. Example: If
you are not entered in Halter 5 and Over, you cannot count
points won in that division.
If you want
to count points in Showmanship or Equitation, you must enter
those divisions separately.
Everyone
- Owners and Riders must all be members of WAHA or the points
will not count. Example: Your trainer must be a member of
WAHA if the trainer rides the horse and you want those points
to be counted.
You need
to read the type of classes included in the divisions that
you enter. Walk-Trot is always Gymkhana, regardless of what
the show calls the class, Western, Hunter, etc. Lead line
is also Gymkhana.
Shows or
classes for Pintos, National Show Horses, 4-H, Buckskins,
are called CLOSED shows/classes and cannot be counted for
the WAHA Point System.
Costume
is always costume whether a Novelty Costume Class at an open
show, Sidesaddle, or Mounted Native Costume. Yes, Sidesaddle
is a Costume Division Class. In order for the points to count,
you must mail them to the Purebred or Half-Arabian point keepers. If
you have one of each, you need to send one to the Purebred
point keeper and one to the Half-Arabian point keeper within
15 days of the close of the show.
Check the
rules from time to time so that you will have all your points
counted in the Divisions you entered. Contact Gay Jeanne Bower:

Have fun
collecting the points toward the WAHA Awards.
WAHA
High Point System:
Open
to all WAHA membership categories. Show at rated and non-rated
shows and accumulate points for awards in 40 different categories,
several of which are divided by age of horse or rider. Separate
divisions are offered for purebred Arabians and Half/Anglo
Arabians. Divisions for each include western, working horse
(reining), dressage, English, driving, costume, hunter,
exhibitor (senior, junior, and junior junior), halter (several
categories by sex & age), equitation, showmanship, endurance,
and competitive.

2. All
rider(s), all handler(s) and horse owner(s) must
be members of the Wisconsin Arabian Horse Association.
3. Horse(s) must
be registered Arabian, Half-Arabian or Anglo-Arabian (AHA).
4. Points will

5. Points will be counted only from the Divisions entered.
Note: You must enter the division for the classes

Division, you cannot count the points.
6. You must
enter the Point system prior to participating in shows
to be counted. This will be enforced.
7. Points must
be recorded on the WAHA Point forms, along with an official
class list and page showing AHA and USAE show rating (Class
A, B, C, or local member) and mailed to the appropriate
Point System Secretary within 15 days of the last date of
the show (enforced by US Postmark - postage meters are not
acceptable).
8. All points
are to be mailed directly to the Point System Secretary
whose name and address appear on the form. It is recommended
that you make extra copies of the reporting form(s) or allow
two weeks for additional forms to be mailed.
9. Points earned
in closed shows or classes other than Arabian, Half-Arabian
or Anglo-Arabian, such as 4-H or restricted breed shows
and classes (National Show Horse, Pinto, Palomino, etc.),
will not be counted.
10. Points
won in futurity/maturity classes at Arabian, Half-Arabian
and Anglo-Arabian shows will count towards their respective
halter divisions and be based on the rating of the show
in which they were held. For example, futurity halter classes
at a Class A show will count as Class A points.
11. All points

show in which they were held.
